A fusible backing or stabilizer is a fabric with an adhesive coating on one side that, when heat is applied with an iron, bonds to another fabric, providing extra stability and support for sewing or embroidery, essentially acting as a reinforcement layer to prevent stretching or puckering; adhesive backing refers to the glue-like layer on the fusible material that allows it to adhere to another fabric when heated. Fuse N Stick is a unique double-sided adhesive stabilizer that is ideal for applique.
